Why Choose the CLIL Methodology?

At ELI, we implement Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) across all our courses. CLIL is an innovative educational approach in which both fictional and non-fictional topics are taught through a non-native language—primarily English. This methodology allows learners to acquire subject knowledge and language skills simultaneously.

By engaging with a wide variety of topics in English, learners are exposed to a richer and more diverse linguistic environment. This not only broadens their vocabulary but also helps develop critical skills and subject-specific knowledge in a more immersive context.

The benefits of CLIL are well-documented and include increased confidence in using a non-native language, enhanced cognitive and academic performance, improved communication skills, and a deeper understanding of intercultural and community values. Research also supports the effectiveness and flexibility of CLIL, particularly for young learners, in developing proficiency across all four key language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
